Brewing Bonkers to Perfection

Brew Up Some Magic!

PREPARING BONKERS PERFORMANCE TEAS

Instructions are for an 8oz cup of tea. Since everyone’s sense of taste is radically different, the amount of water used per cup of tea will differ. You will need to adjust that to fit your desired strength.

Making a cup of BONKERS teas is no different than brewing any other teas. But there are a few necessary steps you can follow that will ensure a perfectly brewed cup of tea.

1.  Start with good water. Your finished cup of tea will only    be as good as the water it was brewed in. If your tap water has any type of flavors that are unpleasant, these will be imparted to your tea. Water that is too hard, has too many hard minerals, or is distilled can ruin a good tea. Therefore, we recommend that bottled or filtered water be used, especially if water quality is in question. If you know your water, 50-150 ppm total dissolved solids or 1-3 grains of hardness is what seems to brew the best results.

2.  Use only fresh water. Do not use hot tap water or water that has been previously boiled for a long time. The dissolved oxygen content seems to enhance the extraction of tea, which thereby enhances your cup of brewed tea.

3.  Prewarm teapot, cups, and mugs before pouring in the water that will be used to steep your tea. When boiling water is poured into a cold vessel the temperature of the water drops several degrees before the tea can begin extraction. This will affect the quality of the infusion. Before steeping tea, warm pots, cups and mugs by first preheating them with very hot water.

4.  For brewing BONKERS teas, use water at full rolling boil for best results. Use the boiling water immediately to steep teas. The Rejuvenate, South African Rooibos, is a very hearty tea leaf and needs boiling water to release the nutrients and flavors. This leaf can even be boiled in the water for a short period of time.

5.  Green teas are more delicate, like BONKERS Extreme Green and require that water be poured over tea just at boiling-not boiling, about 180 degrees-when bubbles begin to rise or boiled water can be used, but let it set for about two minutes after boiling before pouring over tea. Also, steeping green teas only requires 2-3 minutes, with some Japanese teas requiring only a minute. We will give specific instructions for each of our future green tea blends.

6.  Leave BONKERS tea bags steeping in hot water while drinking your tea. The release of the nutrient rich vitamins, minerals and antioxidants will be maximized at their full potential--just another benefit of going BONKERS ! And no need to worry about the tea becoming too strong. BONKERS Performance Teas are extremely low in acidity and tannins, so there is no bitter after taste, just pure, clean fun! So go on--Go BONKERS !
